Belt conveyor failure

24th April 2020

In the belt conveyor, the drum is the main component to transmit power. The working principle of the belt conveyor is that the roller driven by the motor drives the conveyor belt to run through the friction between the belts. According to its role, the roller is usually divided into two categories: transmission roller and redirecting roller. The driving roller is the main component to transmit the driving force. Changing to the roller is used to change the running direction of the conveyor belt, or to increase the wrap angle of the conveyor belt and the driving roller.

The defects of the drum design, processing and manufacturing caused the belt conveyor to never run stably. The important forms are: belt deviation, belt surface slip, vibration, and noise.

Causes and hazards of belt running west
When the belt conveyor is running, the belt running west is a common fault. In theory, the rotation centers of the roller and the roller must be at right angles to the longitudinal center of the conveyor belt, so the roller and the roller must have this belt centerline as symmetry diameter of. However, various errors will occur in the actual processing, because the center will never coincide or the belt itself will deviate during the belt connection process. During operation, the contact conditions of the belt and the drum and the roller will change, and the belt will run west. Not only will it affect production, damage the belt, but also increase the running resistance of the whole machine. The reasons for the rollers are as follows:

Due to the influence of attachments after processing or use, the diameter of the drum changes.
The head drive roller and the tail roller are never perpendicular to the center of the fuselage.

Causes and hazards of belt slippage
The belt operation relies on the drive motor to drive the transmission drum. The transmission drum relies on the friction between it and the conveyor belt to drive the belt. Whether the belt runs successfully has a huge impact on the mechanical, effectiveness and life of the belt conveyor. The belt bends , May cause the belt conveyor to not work steadily, the main reasons involved in the roller are as follows:

The driving roller is degummed, which reduces the friction coefficient between the driving roller and the belt ridge.
The calculation of the design size or installation size of the drum is correct, resulting in the lack of the wrap angle between the drum and the belt, which reduces the friction resistance.
