The Various Types of Conveyor Roller

07th February 2021

The most critical part of a conveyor system is the type of conveyor roller that is used, different packaging and products will require different rollers. Materials that can be used when producing types of conveyor roller can be plastic, rubber or metallic depending on their application and use in normal business operations. Not only is their given application important, but the type of environment and facility should be considered as well. For example, moving parts exhibiting high temperature require the use of systems with a metallic conveyor roller, as opposed to the use of rubber or plastic coated rollers. Common types of conveyor rollers include:

Coated (covered) conveyor roller: These are specialty rollers that are covered with plastic or rubber and are commonly used in the paper processing, metal rolling and printing industries. For the best outcomes, the coated type of rollers merges grind with a substantially high level of grip through the coating material.

Gravity conveyor roller: This class of conveyor roller combine both off the shelf design specifications with advanced structural features. As a consequence, the conveyor rollers are best when used in handling low grade cartons, bags and boxes of odd shapes.

Motorized conveyor roller: The rollers in this class come packed with control drums for regulating the speed and flow of the products under transportation. Through the motorized zones, product sorting and analysis can be effectively automated throughout the transportation process. As a consequence, these rollers are best when used in advanced automated production lines.

Free spinning conveyor roller: These are bearing-laden rollers created with an integrated free turn capability. The rollers are useful in creating conveyor belt support systems as well as for use in areas requiring highly flexible rotational output and low friction.
